Kindergarten at Belair Public School
Little learners. Big adventures. Endless opportunities!
At Belair Public School, Kindergarten is more than just the first year of school — it's the beginning of something wonderful!
We believe every child deserves the very best start to their education. Our Kindergarten program combines high-quality explicit teaching, purposeful play, creativity and exploration to develop confident, capable and happy learners who love coming to school.
Strong foundations. Amazing achievements.
At Belair, we are incredibly proud of the excellent learning outcomes our Kindergarten students achieve across all curriculum areas. Our dedicated teachers use evidence-based, explicit teaching approaches to build strong foundations in English and mathematics. Through carefully sequenced lessons, systematic phonics instruction, daily reading and writing opportunities, and engaging, hands-on mathematics experiences, we ensure every child is supported and challenged to achieve their personal best.
Learning through discovery!
Our much-loved Discovery Learning program is a special part of Kindergarten at Belair. Each day, children have opportunities to investigate, imagine, build, create, collaborate and problem-solve through purposeful, play-based experiences that complement and extend their classroom learning.
Big adventures beyond the classroom!
Learning at Belair happens everywhere! Our Kindergarten children enjoy exploring our beautiful natural surroundings, investigating the world through science, expressing themselves through visual arts, music and drama, and developing confidence and coordination through sport and physical activity. Our wonderful outdoor spaces, nature play areas, sandpits, playgrounds and sporting facilities provide endless opportunities for adventure, creativity and friendship.
Playtimes made just for Kinder!
At Belair, we know that playtime is an important part of learning, growing and making friends! Our dedicated Kindergarten COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) is a special space exclusively for our Kindergarten students to enjoy during all three daily breaks.
Every day, the COLA is filled with an exciting variety of toys, craft activities, games and physical education equipment, giving children plenty of opportunities to play, create, explore and have fun. This welcoming, familiar space provides a safe and supportive environment where our youngest learners can build friendships, connect with their Kindergarten peers and develop confidence and a sense of belonging.
Whether children love being active, getting creative or enjoying a quieter game with friends, there is always something to enjoy!
A place to belong.
At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to student wellbeing and belonging. We nurture kindness, resilience, independence and positive relationships in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child is known, valued and celebrated. Our special Year 6 Buddy Program, dedicated teachers and welcoming school community help children develop friendships and feel confident from their very first days at school.
At Belair, we celebrate every milestone, encourage every curiosity and create opportunities for every child to shine.
